Each summer five of our nature centers host nature camps for boys and girls entering grades 1 through 12. Children and teens explore and discover the natural environment of Westchester County and learn how they can be stewards of our natural areas with fun, hands-on experiences. Camps are held at Cranberry Lake Preserve, Lenoir Preserve, Marshlands Conservancy, Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary and Trailside Nature Museum. Each camp focuses on different aspects of nature with weekly themes centered on animals, insects, plants and more.
The Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation is looking for enthusiastic educators, naturalists, and outdoor-enthusiasts to teach at our summer Nature Camp at Marshlands Conservancy in Rye NY. Camp operates from July through mid-August. Counselors will share their knowledge and love of the outdoors with like-minded campers from 1st grade through middle school.
Duties include but are not limited to: developing activities for campers to participate in throughout the day.
QualificationsApplicants should enjoy being outdoors and have the ability to communicate effectively while sharing your natural enthusiasm and curiosity!
Hours/SalaryNature camp counselors are hourly positions. Hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Salary is commensurate with experience.
