The Pace Energy Project promotes economic and equitable alternatives to the world's growing dependence on traditional fuels--a dependence that produces severe environmental, economic, and political harm. These alternatives form the basis of our vision for a sustainable energy future a future that is more environmentally benign and that attends to the long term economic needs of nations, regions and communities. Our immediate focus is on the electricity industry. Within this focus, we promote energy efficiency and renewable energy options--options that are cost effective means to reduce the negative air, water, land and human health impacts from current patterns of electricity production and consumption. Using research and negotiation, we reach out to individuals, institutions and governments involved in energy decision making. We participate in regulatory proceedings, usually representing coalitions of local and national groups. We litigate when we must. The education of the next generation of advocates and the furthering of environmental justice for all peoples are common threads to all our work.

The Land Use Law Center is dedicated to fostering the development of sustainable communities in New York State. Through its Community Leadership Alliance Program, the Center offers citizens and professionals involved in local government a training program and services that enable them to use all available legal tools in making decisions about land development and conservation issues. Pace Law students work as Center fellows, conducting research on cutting-edge land use practice topics. More than forty-five student papers have been produced under this program, many of which have been published in law reviews and journals. Students contributed significantly to the Center's most recent publication, Well Grounded: Shaping the Destiny of the Empire State, a set of three books that provide a comprehensive guide to land use law.
